Unity Churches and Local Centres Safeguarding Policy Statement.
We, the Association of Unity Leaders & Ministries - UK, (the association in which all Unity UK groups are affiliated and member of) acknowledge children and adults right to protection from abuse, regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexuality and beliefs.
We consider the welfare of children paramount. Therefore we will follow the legislation, statutory guidance and recognised good practice in order to protect vulnerable people in our Churches/Local Centre Groups.
We have established a caring environment in which there is an informed vigilance about the dangers of abuse, by implementing, monitoring, and regularly reviewing the procedures outlined in our Safeguarding Policy, designed to help us prevent and to be alert to others who are experiencing abuse.
Activities will be organised in such a way to promote a safe environment and minimise the risk of harm to children and adults.
A safe process of recruitment will be adhered to, for the selection and appointment of people to work with children and adults at risk, whether voluntary or paid, lay or ordained.
We are committed to providing support, supervision, resources and training to those who work with children and adults.
We accept and believe that all children and adults at risk should know that they are valued within our Churches/Local Group Centres and they will safely enjoy and have access to every aspect of life as presented in our Church/Group.
We recognised that domestic violence, in the form of physical, verbal, emotional, physiological, neglect, religion and financial abuse is unacceptable and inconsistent with a Unity way of living. Therefore, we are going to report any form of abuse of children and adults that are at risk that we discover or suspect.
We have an appointed Safeguarding Coordinator, Ms. Janice Gushway, Licensed Unity Teacher, who oversees all groups and Churches, to whom all concerns and allegations are to be addressed.
The Association of Unity Leaders and Ministers-UK (AUL&M-UK) have an active Safeguarding Policy in all Churches/Local Centres and Groups with delegated Personnel.
