“Meditation tunes us into a life signal being sent to us from the Infinite.”
J Douglas Bottorff (Meditation and Prayer)
This is an important point to make, which Unity minister, Rev Bottorff puts very well in his book, A Practical Guide to Meditation and Prayer.
We don’t have to do anything to get God’s attention. We have it already. The lines of communication are already open. Ours is simply to tune in, like a radio.
So the quote we read in Matthew 7 and Luke 11, ‘Ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened’ is not for us to get God to do something special for us. It is for us to know we already have God’s love and attention – these words are to remind us to tune in.
In the quietness of meditation, when we close out the busy world and make space for God, we experience the gentle nudges of Spirit, the guidance we seek, the love known for us and being manifest through us always. So again the encouragement is to take time to meditate. As we do, we come to know for ourselves that we are innocent (A Course in Miracles), we are loved, we are free.
