“Love is the ground of our being.”
In Genesis 1:26 we are told that we are made in the image and likeness of God.
In the Christian scriptures we are told that God is love – 1 John 4:8
Therefore we are, in essence, love.
In my personal experience, every act is either an act of love or a call for love. It is easy to respond well to those who are loving. Not so easy to respond with love when people act out through their emotional wounds and pain. Especially when they connect with our own wounded feelings and emotional pain.
That is when it is so important to remember that God as love is our true essence. And that this love is the ground of our being in which we can truly rest; where we can experience being nurtured, comforted and reminded about who we really are.
So whenever life gets tough, whenever you experience trauma, hurt, rejection, etc, allow yourself to rest in God as love. Remember that this is the ground of your being and is holding you and keeping you safe, always.
