Peace, be still

Peace, be still. These are such simple, yet powerful words to remember when we get caught up in the busyness of the Christmas season, or our minds get stuck in a loop of worry, concern or fear.
 ” Peace, be still and know that I am God.”
                         Psalm 46:10
In the Psalm, we are reminded that whatever is going on, God is the answer.
God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.
Life can seem so tumultuous sometimes, especially when we look at what is going on in the world. We can so easily forget who we are: beloved of God, expressions of the Divine. But if we can remember to stop, pause, breathe and reconnect with the now moment, then say, “Peace, be still” a few times, calmly and quietly, we can find our way back to the experience of God present with us, always.
Peace is the theme of our second week of Advent. It is a beautiful reminder to always find peace, even when in the midst of a storm.
