February is upon us, and traditionally it is the month of love, as represented by Valentines Day.
So much is written and sung about love. Yet very often the words represent only the human perspective which can come from a sense of lack and need, rather than from the experience of being one with love.
A good question to ask ourselves is what does love mean to me and how can I live this? It is worth spending a bit of time reflecting on this, opening to the idea that what we can imagine is already within us, waiting to be really experienced and shared.
Love for me is the healing presence (the theme of our Spring Retreat). It is the presence and power which connects me with the truth of who I am, which heals and releases me from anything that is not my real truth, and connects me with the presence and power we call God, Source or Awareness.
When I take time each day to connect with love as my truth, in all the ways I experience it, I am more able to see and respond to love in another. And through love find the way to resolve anything that feels ‘wrong’ in my life.
Charles Fillmore, Unity co-founder, described love as,
“The pure essence of Being that binds together the whole human family … in divine harmony. Love is an inner quality that sees good everywhere and in everybody. Love is the great harmoniser and healer.”
Charles Fillmore also described love as a mighty magnet, drawing our good to us.
In Romans 13: 10 it is written,
“Love therefore is the fulfilment of the law”.
I experience love as the activity of God at work through me, to lead me and those around me to the greater knowing of who we are. From this experience comes a life of creativity, joy, abundance and fulfilment.
If we think life is all about my needs in opposition to your needs (as clearly depicted in the recently released film The Big Short) we create a life of lack and fear, loss and death.
When we allow love to connect us, when we live with the desire that we want good for everyone, not just ourselves, together we will create a shift on our planet that will enable us all to know abundance and peace.
This month, as we focus on love as our truth, we will find ways to really experience and know this for ourselves, which will create the change we seek. Let love be the healing presence in your life.
