- Throughout the Gospels it is written that Jesus took himself apart to pray. The crowds and disciples demanded Jesus’ attention and He was there for them. It was His regular time in prayer that enabled Jesus to stay connected with his Father, which enabled him to teach and heal as he did.
Today the world demands our attention and we are here, active in the world. To do this; to be fully present, to help and serve authentically, we, too, must take time in silence and prayer. We must first go within as Jesus did.
Take time each morning to be still and listen to the Father within – the Presence (activity) of life, love, intelligence, wisdom, power, etc. Reach inward, aim to connect and allow God-energy to become your own. Make time at the beginning of each day to be centred in God Presence. Jesus did and explained this when He said, “I and the Father are one.” John 10:30
When we do this, we are not loosing ourselves – we are becoming our true Self. We find we no longer need to protect or defend ourselves – our limitations fall away. Now we can step forward in faith, just as Jesus did. Now our actions truly can be a positive impact on the world.
Let this daily practice be the most important act of your day. And throughout the day, take mini-breaks of stillness to get God- centred again. People will notice a new you and want for themselves what you obviously have. Just like Jesus did.
