God is Love

By January 24, 2019 Thought for the week

“God is love, expressing as me.”

This is such an important message in Unity. Which is why I share it again and again. We are not separate from God and never can be. All the qualities that we ascribe to God are our qualities as well – it is simply a matter of focus.

For example, do I choose to focus on illness or health? I have been off work with a cold virus that made me stop and rest. I had so little energy it was not even in me to pray. And to be honest, to whom am I praying anyway? Praying to a separate God no longer works for me, even though I know and appreciate that it works for many others. But I did and do know that God as life is expressing through and as me. While I was feeling poorly I was able to access this Life simply by focusing on it and then blessed my body with positive thoughts of love, life, strength and healing. Even though it was frustrating and very painful at times, after just a few seconds of feeling sorry for myself, I was able to refocus on God as Life as my life and I immediately felt better.

So dear one, know that you are loved unconditionally (Jeremiah 31:3). And the invitation is to open to the idea that this Love is not sent to you but arises within and as you. It is the love that you truly are.

Further, any quality of God you desire to experience (peace, joy, abundance, wisdom etc) allow to receive in you as you. This is the best way I can think of to live as ‘children of God.’
(1 John 3:1)
