Conversations in Unity

Picture
Lively lunchtime conversation at a Unity Retreat
Join with us informally each month to discover more about Unity or simply share your own ideas and experiences...

Many things can bring us together as a spiritual fellowship. Perhaps you have an important life experience to share; or have been moved by a Daily Word reflection and want to discuss it with others. Maybe you want to know a little more about key Unity ideas like affirmative prayer or prosperity thinking. Whether you want to learn, share, or just listen, this is the place for you! A regular monthly slot in your diary when you can log in on Zoom, sit back, and chat to a group of like-minded people, discovering new insights and new friends along the way.

First Tuesday of the Month, 7.30pm on our usual Zoom Link.

"Diving into Affirmative Prayer"
Led online by Rev Wally White

For World Day of Prayer, Unity has given us an affirmation that says, “Love leads me. Faith steadies me. Prayer carries me forward.” That brings to question how does it carry me forward? And, what am I carrying forward? Unity teaches us to use affirmative prayer. We are taught to first centre ourselves in knowing that God is within us, not outside. Then we pray claiming that the solution is already done. Let’s talk more about how denials and affirmations can be useful tools to bring out our spiritual Truth.

What is affirmative prayer? If the answer is known before we pray, why pray? How are we called to use Denials and Affirmations? Let us come together, share our personal experiences of affirmative prayer in Unity and any questions you may have, to help experience prayer more deeply.

Tuesday 29 September, 7.30-8.30pm,
"The Book of Numbers (Part 2)"
Led by Gregory Porilo LUT

On 2nd September 2025 our evening discussion (hosted by myself) had the title of “The Book of Numbers” and, if you were there, it was a two-parter with the second part scheduled to take place this year. We focused particularly on the number 60 and its meaning, as it was a significant month for me, and also discussed other numbers, our favourite numbers, any which we do not like, and discovered how to calculate our “Destiny Number.” As a reminder, it is the number obtained from adding together the date, month and year of your birthday and reducing it to a single digit.

So for me, 21st September 1965 became 2+1+9+1+9+6+5 = 31 = 3+1 = 4. I then set some homework and asked everyone to mentally make a note, during the year, of how often they see that number and where. Any unusual places? Frequently or infrequently? The idea was not to go actively searching for it but to let it search for you. Sometimes it might suddenly appear quietly and other times it might shout at you. If you have forgotten, then you still have a month left for the homework.

It is Divine Timing that this is a “September Special” almost at the end of the month, instead of near the beginning as normal, because being the 9th month we shall also consider in particular the meaning of the number 9, and if that happens to be your Destiny Month it would be interesting for anyone to share anything special that has happened to them during the month

Tuesday 6th October
7.30-8.30pm
Led by Jane Gough

In Judaism, the "holiest of holy days" is Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement). It is a 25-hour solemn period of fasting, intense prayer, and repentance that concludes the High Holy Days which begin with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.

Yom Kippur for 2026 began at sundown on Sunday, September 20, 2026, to nightfall on Monday, September 21, 2026, so I have recently completed my 'day of atonement'  so let's discuss if we think that a day for atonement works? Are we able to work with the notion of a day? Let's discuss.
