The minister who first encouraged and employed me when I joined Unity, Doreen Davenport, used to say – we are only ever halfway there!
I will admit I found this frustrating. Why is this human journey never-ending? If that is the case, what is the point, anyway? Or had I missed the point? Do you ever feel like this? You may have put in lots of effort to live in a new way. Things start to go great. Perhaps you feel rather self-satisfied, or maybe just relieved that this is happening at last. And then things go awry again! It can feel like we are back to square one! Phew. Firstly – we are never back to square one! Nothing is ever lost. There is growth and movement on the upward spiral of our life-experiences. And secondly, perhaps that is the point of life: the human journey. We learn through our challenges. Why? Because we are being called to wake up and know - we are the light. We have believed in so much that is not this light. We have believed we are separate from our Source, from our God-experience, feeling alone and scared and fighting for our corner. This belief is ours to let go of, for we have put it in the way of Source/God and our good. This is not being done ‘to us’ by a separate force. We are not being punished or condemned. It is our thinking that has got in the way, determined by our life experiences which sees all of life 'out there' rather than in us. (See Daily Word for 22 August 2025). Our human journey is to let go and grow, which we do bit by bit. Just as it would be completely overwhelming to fully see and know Source/God, it would be too overwhelming to see all we have put in the way. We also need times of quiet space to breathe and settle, before we take the next leap or next step up! You can always ask for a breather if you want - your soul knows what is good for you. And your soul is calling you into a higher, truer experience of your divine and human self. If ever you feel like it has all gone wrong again, just keep letting go into your Source/God experience so that we, together, more beautifully and radiantly, shine our light. How can you do that today?
