Do you notice how often you expect the world (people, events etc) to make you happy, only to feel disappointed when it does not happen? This is true for me as much as anyone, when I forget who I am. Generally in the western world, we have been taught to seek our happiness in the world outside of us. Some even demand that the world owes them a living. Yet, truthfully, this is the wrong way round. The world (people, events, possessions etc.) cannot make us happy. Ultimately, we feel let down and unfulfilled. Instead, when we discover that it is when we give to the world (nature, humanity) that we find true fulfilment. We are here to be our creative selves; to give unconditionally, just as nature does for us; just as Jesus lived and taught. When we do, our spirit soars, our creative-self shines and everyone benefits. Let us each find a way to be creative in our giving, for here is our true fulfilment. ‘In all this I have given you an example that by such work we must support the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, for he himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”’ Acts 20:35 Rev.
