Thank you for encouraging me to attend the Expect a Miracle retreat. I arrived expecting to learn about miracles, but I left realising that the greatest miracle is not simply what Jesus did, but who He revealed Himself to be and who we are invited to become in Him.
Throughout the weekend, I found myself asking not just, “What happened?” but “What is this revealing about Christ, and what is Christ revealing about me?” The retreat’s language of consciousness resonated with Paul’s words about the renewing of the mind (Romans 12:2). It reminded me that what we continually focus on gradually shapes our lives. I also saw how this connects with my own journey of prayer, meditation and stillness—not as ways of finding God, but of becoming more aware of His presence. Reflecting on Jesus’ miracles deepened this understanding. Water into wine reminded me that Christ transforms ordinary lives from the inside out. The feeding of the five thousand showed me that what I place in Christ’s hands is already enough, because He is the source of abundance. Walking on the water taught me that faith is not the absence of storms but keeping my eyes on Christ in the midst of them. Perhaps my greatest insight came through linking my personal earlier study of Eve. We explored shame, fear and false identity, and I realised again that Christ does not give me my worth—He reveals the identity God placed within me from the beginning. The miracle is not becoming someone different but awakening to who I already am as God’s beloved child. This retreat also helped me express something I have felt for some time. I go to church to learn the Bible, and I come to Unity to learn how to live it. Scripture roots me in Christ, while contemplative practice helps me embody His teachings in everyday life. For me, the two complement one another beautifully. I left with one simple conviction: The greatest miracle is Christ continuing His work within an ordinary life. As I continue to practise prayer, silence and reflection, my desire is simply to become more aware of His presence, so that His love, peace and compassion are increasingly reflected in the way I live. Thank you again for creating a space where these deeper reflections could emerge. The retreat has not changed my faith; it has deepened my awareness of living it.
