I worry because I care!
Have you ever heard someone say that to you? Perhaps you say it? We may not even say it but we might do it! If our minds take over, engaging in repeating thoughts that are based on fear, on lack, instead of faith, we have forgotten our connection with the Divine Presence, our oneness with God. My lovely mother is a worrier – I think she feels it is her role as a mother to worry. As her eldest child, I learnt to worry too. However, as an adult in Unity, I am learning to recognise the signs and return to faith. I will admit, it is not always easy. Habits are not necessarily easy to change. When something feels really important to me, and I want it to go well, it seems like the thing to do – to fret over it, reflect on all the different angles, many of which might be negative, and get stuck there. Now I recognise that this was my childhood training and pattern. And it does not work! Paul is excellent at reminding me to let it go. It has become one of my daily practises. And how do I do that? By taking some time to get still, even if just for a few moments. To recentre in God-Presence and awareness – be so filled with radiant, Divine energy that the fear and worry dissolves. I find God in the midst; I am returned to faith; the way forward, right decisions, become clear. For me, this is part of my practice of prayer – to let go, let God and return to faith. How about you? What is your journey from fear to faith?
