 More than speaking affirmations and holding positive thoughts, it has been the path of service and surrender that has changed me.
This may be quite controversial to some Unity students or leaders, as we teach that positive speaking and thinking are tools of change. And they are. When we speak positive words, with faith, belief and feeling, our world changes to align with the energy being expressed. Indeed, I have witnessed this. However, the activity of surrender, or completely letting go into Divine Love and Wisdom as Grace, has been the overwhelming tool of change for me. Because it opened my heart to love. Serving on the prayer line has kept me grounded – responding with love and prayer to the many challenges people share, has changed me as much as I pray it has supported them. Connecting with everyone through our Zoom prayer and discussion meetings each day has deepened the experience of love, connecting with our Unity spiritual family. Desiring to show up through service, with love, has changed me. I am by no means comparing myself to Jesus. And for sure, I have made loads of mistakes. But as our example, brother and way-shower in Unity, He served and surrendered his life so we may all know ourselves as made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1: 26-27). I am not surrendering my life as He did. But I have been willing to surrender into the Divine Presence – and this has been the biggest tool for change in me. Have you witnessed this in yourself?
