“I move forward with confidence and audacity.”
I must admit this is not how I have experienced myself. Rather than being confident and audacious, I experienced myself as timid and shy. Perhaps because of this I have always loved Star Trek: The Next Generation!
Where is the link here you may rightly ask! Well, they were confident and audacious and this drew me like a moth to the light. The crew on The Starship Enterprise worked together as a team. They learned from each other, they supported each other, and they grew in skill and understanding together. I have always been impressed by the idea of living in this way.
And forgive the split infinitive, but Captain Picard’s opening words in each episode, “To boldly go where no one has gone before“ works for me as much today as it did in the 80’s and 90’s.
For me today, this is as much about exploring the great unknown of the universe and making a difference, as it is about discovering the great unknown of our inner world. It takes courage and audacity to focus on our chosen purpose with enthusiasm. We may well experience everything coming up to stop us. But if we keep going with confidence, faith and audacity, we really can succeed.
