Let Go and Let God

“I let go and let God express as me.”

“Let go and let God” is a well-loved expression in Unity. It had a big impact on me when I first came to Unity and realised I did not have to figure everything out, sort everything out and do everything. What a relief. Yet I am still remembering to live this!

It sounds so simple to do yet how often we forget.  Jesus expressed it in a really feelingful way in the Garden of Gethsemane where it is written he said, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me; yet, not my will but yours be done.” Luke 22:42

Surrendering our will can only be done when we are willing to experience and know God is love, and in this love we safely dwell. Jesus knew this, and I believe, because of his knowing, was able to follow through to crucifixion and resurrection. Jesus had surrendered fully into God: “The Father and I are one.” John 10:30

The more we are willing to open to God as love, the more we will experience Love holding us, becoming us and thereby expressing through us. It is easier then to surrender to Love. Out of this surrender we can say, not my will but your will be done, because we know that God is the whole picture, of which we see only in part. And God is the activity, the Presence, that enables good for us all.
